Writing practice
Opinion Pieces
We will write one page "reader's letters" about our favorite books this week. We will practice writing a topic statement and supporting our opinion with WHY we like a certain book. Students are expected to write four supporting details as evidence of their opinion. Each part of this assignment will be modeled in class through mini-lessons. Sudents will write rough drafts as homework and will conference with Mrs. Hays throughout the week on editing and revision for a final draft of the letter - due next Monday.
Word Study - We are continuing to use Words Their Way for our spelling word study. A contract is glued into your child's writing journal. Sign your child's agenda so I know your child has communicated their homework to you & you have seen the completed assignments.
Mon - Thurs = practice activities Friday= Test!
